How do I get COR certified in Ontario?
COR™ in Ontario is administered by the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA). An employer builds a health and safety management system against the COR standard, completes an internal audit, then passes an external audit. Some project owners ask for COR when prequalifying contractors, so requirements vary by owner and project.
What the engagement covers
- Readiness review against the COR, ISO 45001 or ISO 9001 standard
- Building out the management system and its documentation
- Internal audit preparation and support
- Corrective action tracking through to external audit
- Integrated management systems where you hold more than one standard, so quality and safety share one set of documents rather than two

Who this is for
Construction and trades employers who need COR to qualify for public work, manufacturers whose customers require ISO 45001, and businesses whose clients or tenders ask for ISO 9001.
Where the authority sits. Syon Safety is not a certifying body and does not issue COR™, ISO 45001 or ISO 9001 certificates. COR™ is issued in Ontario by the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association, and ISO certification is issued by an accredited certification body of your choosing. What we provide is the management system, the documentation and the audit preparation that get you through their process.
Standards we build to
We prepare employers against these standards. Certification is awarded by the bodies that own them, never by us.
